Meet Pete Tavernier, the driving force behind Journey Auto Repair.
From a young age, Pete’s passion for vehicles was evident. At just 8 years old, while most kids were engrossed in bedtime stories, Pete was nose-deep in engine and auto repair manuals. This early interest set him on a journey of tinkering and learning, although, admittedly, a few engines never made it back together in those early days!
By 12, Pete’s entrepreneurial spirit shone when he started a lawn mowing business. Two years later, his hard-earned savings bought him a truck that didn’t run. But that was no challenge for Pete. After meticulously going through the vehicle, he not only got it running but added two cars and a motorcycle to his collection by the age of 16.
Cars weren’t just machines to Pete. They were a passion. From street racing to helping friends with repairs, everyone recognized Pete’s magic touch. Heeding the urging of friends, in the spring of 2010, he established a repair shop right out of his garage. By 2012, Pete had taken the bold step of renting a dedicated shop space.
However, Pete’s journey wasn’t just about engines and speed. It was also about giving back. In 2016, he and his family moved to Haiti, dedicating themselves to a noble cause. Through their non-profit, they imparted essential trade skills, from auto repair to masonry. Their mission of service continued after their return to the states, resulting in the acquisition of Kurth’s in 2019. With continued growth, Pete birthed Journey Ministries, a testament to his giving spirit, which has seen 36 cars donated to those in need.
Pete is much more than just an auto enthusiast. His trips to Florida after Hurricane Ian in 2022 and 2023 showcase his dedication to community service. A nature lover, Pete revels in outdoor activities, be it camping, fishing, or enjoying bonfires. His joys are simple – family bike rides, restoring old objects, from tractors to furniture, bringing them back to life.
Family forms Pete’s core. Married to Joelle since 2010, the couple is blessed with four lovely girls. Living in the house where Pete grew up, the Tavernier family cherishes their time together, from vacations in Wisconsin to family game nights.
Journey Auto Repair is not just a business; it’s a culmination of Pete’s life journey, skills, passion, and dedication. Entrust your vehicles to us, and become a part of this incredible journey.
